Run a search online and you'll find all kinds of different d-aspartic acid reviews praising it as a highly effective testosterone booster for increasing muscle growth, strength and fat loss.

But does d-aspartic acid work? Is d-aspartic acid worth it as a bodybuilding supplement to include in your plan?

Most of the praise surrounding this supplement originates from a d-aspartic acid study that showed an increase in overall testosterone levels of around 30-40%. D-aspartic acid supplements accomplish this by increasing the body's levels of LH (luteinizing hormone) which is secreted from the pituitary gland and stimulates testosterone production.

So, does DAA work for improving muscle growth? Well, although 30-40% may sound great on paper, the truth is that overall test levels need to be elevated much higher than this in order for it to directly impact your body composition or performance in the gym. We're talking increases of several hundred percent or more here.

So although DAA supplements do increase testosterone levels overall, it's likely not going to be high enough in the majority of people in order for it to actually positively benefit your bodybuilding program. An increase in libido, yes, but not an increase in actual muscle growth.

Although you may read reports from people online raving about their positive d-aspartic acid results, it's important to remember how very powerful the placebo effect is, and also that many of these people have affiliations with certain supplement companies and are paid to promote it. For that reason, you need to be very skeptical when reading d-aspartic acid reviews, or reviews for any bodybuilding supplement for that matter.

At the end of the day, based on the available data, I'd suggest leaving d aspartic acid supplements on the shelf and investing your money elsewhere.
